Thank you for your kind words about my photos. August might not be the best time to go though. Temps can climb as high as 120 in the summer and, while I know you’re already used to desert heat, not only does it get quite humid at the Salton Sea but pretty stinky too. I believe the massive fish die-offs happen in the summer as well. I might wait until fall if I were you. :-)
