IMG_20140222_0003Even under optimal circumstances (in this case the wonderful SX-70 Land camera and most-recent generation of Impossible Project film were used in warm, late-afternoon light) Polaroid photography remains an unpredictable undertaking. Like a couple of the other images I’ve posted here recently, this shot is inexplicably overexposed and washed out and yet, for me, the sweet moment it captures makes up for its lack of perfection and brings to mind the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi.

Photo taken with a Polaroid SX-70 Land camera and Impossible Project instant film.
